Who is eligible to receive physical therapy via Telehealth?

On March 17, due to the COVID-19 state of emergency, Governor Reynolds suspended all limitations or restrictions regarding the provision of telehealth services, to include physical therapy.

Due to the Governor's mandate, many health insurances (to include Wellmark of Iowa) have waived copays and deductibles for virtual visits (with an in-network provider) at least through the end of May.

Please check with your insurance provider or call our office to see what your insurance covers.

Self-pay is also an option, at $25 per 15 minutes. If you are a New Patient, we are offering a free initial 15 minute session to assess whether your condition is viable for telehealth or whether it will require an initial evaluation in the clinic.

MEDICARE DOES NOT COVER PHYSICAL THERAPY TELEHEALTH VISITS, HOWEVER THEY DO COVER e-VISITS FOR EXISTING PATIENTS. IF YOU NEED TO SPEAK WITH YOUR THERAPIST, YOU MAY CALL THE OFFICE AND WE WILL SCHEDULE A TIME FOR YOU TO CALL. YOUR THERAPIST WILL THEN BE ABLE TO VIDEO-CHAT OR ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS OVER THE PHONE.

MEDICARE PATIENTS ALSO HAVE THE CHOICE TO SELF-PAY.

How do I schedule a Telehealth appointment with RCPT?

Call the office (319-295-8899) just as you would to schedule a regular appointment. You do not need a referral from your physician. Once scheduled, you will receive an email or text (your preference) with a reminder of your appointment date/time and a link to click a few minutes prior to your appointment. The link will take you to a virtual waiting room and then your physical therapist will join you to begin treatment.

What are the benefits of Telehealth?

If you are feeling tightness, soreness, or weakness, RCPT can schedule a virtual session to assess and treat your condition. We are getting calls to treat pain for many reasons due to faulty home workstations, increased stress/tension, improper workouts, and mishaps to name a few.

If we determine you require "in-clinic" treatment first, we have taken many measures to ensure safety including social distancing with staggered staffing, screening with temperature checks, cleaning, and masks!
