Tony Yelden ATC, LAT, PTA, STS
Tony earned his BS, in Exercise Science with a specialization in Athletic Training from the University of Iowa in 1998. Later he earned his PTA from Arapahoe CC in Colorado in 2004. Along with these degrees he is a clinical instructor for multiple colleges for Athletic Training and PTA programs in the state of Iowa. Tony is a Strength Training Specialist along with just attending the Selective Functional Movement Assessment Seminar (SFMA).
Tony had the pleasure of working as a student Athletic Trainer with all the sports teams of the University of Iowa, and with the outreach programs for Iowa City High and Iowa City West High while in college. Tony spent his senior year with the University of Iowa football program.
After graduating from the University of Iowa Tony worked in the outpatient setting delivering treatment, and then worked with the Cedar Rapids Washington High School athletics caring for their student athletes. He was an instructor for Kirkwood Community College teaching their Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries class which is part of the colleges Coaching Certification curriculum. During his career he has treated with a vast array of high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.
Today Tony's focus is on rehabilitation delivery. He enjoys a focus on the athletic population such as high school and collegiate athletes, weekend warriors, ACL rehabilitation, and evidence based practice. Recently he attended and is in the process of developing a Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) screening that will be utilized with the general patient care model to assure a global view is taken when developing rehabilitation strategies, thus looking at a "Regional Interdependence" approach to address the entire patient and not just the area of pain.Back to Staff
