Custom Orthotics

RCPT is pleased to offer Custom Orthotics and Over the counter orthotics

Orthotic Purpose and Function

Orthotics are primarily designed to correct improper body mechanics to reduce dysfunction and/or pain when this cannot be achieved naturally. This works by first causing the foot to adapt to the new surface the orthotic provides, followed by secondary reactions up along the kinetic chain that improve mechanics throughout the rest of the body.

Custom Orthotic Development Process

Physical Therapists are specialized to develop customized orthotics. The process starts with a thorough gait and movement analysis. Then, a scan will capture the unique shape of an individual’s foot. Finally, this three-dimensional model of your foot is sent to the laboratory for orthotic fabrication. Your orthotics will be ready in approximately two weeks.

Over the Counter Orthotics

Sometimes an individual wants a level of help but does not wish to pay for a fully custom orthotic. We can also provide fitting with SOLE over the counter orthotics. These heat malleable orthotics meet the needs of a great many people and are extremely comfortable.

Common injuries where orthotics help decrease and/or eliminate symptoms include:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Posterior Tibialis Tendonitis
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Neuromas in the Foot
  • Hammer Toes
  • Bunions
  • Over Pronation
  • Patellofemoral Syndrome
  • Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITB)
  • Hip Bursitis
  • Back Pain
  • General Joint Pain
  • Ankle Sprains

Most insurances will not pay for custom foot orthotics. Out-of-pocket expenses may be needed. Please confirm with your medical insurance to determine the rate of reimbursement for custom foot orthotics.
